Humanising the Future:
Our 50th Symposium
Our events – a long tradition
In 2019, we will be marking our 50th anniversary by embarking on a program of events which will take place across the country for the Australian community to learn more about the role and impact of the humanities in our national life.
A national focal point
Our Symposium is the premier event for the Australian humanities community — celebrating the richness, diversity and impact of work in the humanities. It has been held every year since the Academy was established in 1969.
Open to all
Symposium and special events are open to all. They bring together a large cross-section of Fellows, scholars, early career researchers and representatives from government, education, peak bodies, industry, media and the community.
Coinciding with the Symposium each year in November are the annual Fellows’ events — where we welcome newly elected Fellows, host the Fellows’ Dinner, convene disciplinary meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
