Our symposia – a long tradition

  • A national focal point

Our Symposium is the premier event for the Australian humanities community — celebrating the richness, diversity and impact of work in the humanities. It has been held every year since the Academy was established in 1969.

  • Open to all

Symposium is a public event, open to all. It brings together a large cross-section of Fellows, scholars, early career researchers, government, education, peak bodies, industry, and the community.

  • Fellows’ events

Coinciding with Symposium are the annual Fellows events — where we welcome newly elected Fellows, host Fellows’ Dinner, convene disciplinary meetings and the Annual General Meeting.

  • Convenors & sponsors

The annual Symposium theme and program are convened by Fellows of the Academy. Also available are a range of sponsorship opportunities for organisations and institutions.
