Our events – a long tradition

  • 50th anniversary

In 2019, we will be marking our 50th anniversary by embarking on a program of events which will take place across the country for the Australian community to learn more about the role and impact of the humanities in our national life.

  • A national focal point

Our Symposium is the premier event for the Australian humanities community — celebrating the richness, diversity and impact of work in the humanities. It has been held every year since the Academy was established in 1969.

  • Open to all

Symposium and special events are open to all. They bring together a large cross-section of Fellows, scholars, early career researchers and representatives from government, education, peak bodies, industry, media and the community.

  • Fellows’ events

Coinciding with Symposium each year on November are the annual Fellows events — where we welcome newly elected Fellows, host Fellows’ Dinner, convene disciplinary meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
