  • Biography:
  • Myfany Turpin is a leading musicologist and linguist who conducts research on Kaytetye, a language spoken in Central Australia. She has documented and interpreted the traditional music of the Kaytetye, Alyawarr, Anmatyerr, Arrernte, Warlpiri and Gurindji peoples of the Northern Territory. She has written a significant dictionary, sketch grammar and scholarly articles in the areas of semantics, ethnobiology and song-poetry, as well as creating films, archival deposits and community resources. Her current Fellowships investigate relationships between words and music in Aboriginal song and trace meaning and songlines of Wanji-wanji, a widely known public ceremony across WA, SA and the NT.
