Alison Wylie is Professor of Philosophy at the University of British Columbia and Canada Research Chair in the Philosophy of the Social and Historical Sciences. She is chiefly concerned with epistemic and ethical questions raised by research practice in the social and historical sciences. Her field experience in archaeology enables her to bridge archaeology and philosophy, enriching both subjects. Through her work on standpoint theory she also engages feminist social science, and her publications on normative issues raised by an ethic of stewardship and by collaborative practice in archaeology bear on research ethics. She is a past president of the American Philosophical Association (Pacific Division), and current President of the Philosophy of Science Association.
