Biography

Jeff Malpas is Distinguished Professor at the University of Tasmania. He is internationally known for his work in the philosophy of place, in hermeneutics and the philosophy of language, and in twentieth-century German philosophy. His work is highly interdisciplinary, and intersects with contemporary art, architecture, geography, sociology, and medicine.He was the founder and the first Director of the University of Tasmania’s Centre for Applied Philosophy and Ethics (later the Inglis Clark Centre) and has many years’ experience in consultancy and training for both Government and private sector organisations.
