Biography

Alfredo Marti­nez-Exposito (Oviedo, Spain, 1965) completed his studies in Spanish Language and Literature at the University of Oviedo Premio Extraordinario de Licenciatura in 1988 and Doctorate Cum Laude in 1991. He was appointed to the University of Queensland in 1993, where he became Spanish Coordinator in 1996, Head of the Department of French, German, Russian, Spanish and Applied Linguistics in 2001, Head of the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies in 2006 and Professor of Hispanic Studies in 2009. He was elected to the Executive Council of the Spanish Semiotics Association from 1988-92 and President of the Association for Iberian and Latin American Studies of Australasia from 2004-06. In 2009 he was honoured with the Order of Civil Merit by the Spanish Crown.
