Clare Bradford

Biography

Clare Bradford has taught at Deakin University since 1988. Her books include Reading Race: Aboriginality in Australian Children’s Literature (2001), which won both the Children’s Literature Association Book Award and the International Research Society for Children’s Literature Award; Unsettling Narratives: Postcolonial Readings of Children’s Literature (2007), named as an Honor Book by the Children’s Literature Association; and New World Orders in Contemporary Children’s Literature: Utopian Transformations (2009) (with Kerry Mallan, John Stephens and Robyn McCallum). In 2009 the Trudeau Foundation awarded her the first International Trudeau Fellowship, funding her as Visiting Trudeau Fellow at the University of Winnipeg during 2010. She was President of the International Research Society for Children’s Literature from 2007 to 2011 and is now the Director of the Centre for Memory, Imagination and Invention at Deakin University.
