Biography

Kenneth Sheedy is the Director of the Australian Centre for Ancient Numismatic Studies at Macquarie University and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Ancient History. He was formerly the SNG Curator in the Department of Coins and Medals at the British Museum (1997-2000), Deputy Director at the Australian Archaeological Institute at Athens (1991-96 ), and a curator at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney (1988-91). His research is focused on the archaeology and history of Greece with particular emphasis on the Cyclades. He is the director and editor of the Sylloge Nummorum Graecorum Australia Project for the publication of ancient Greek coins in Australian collections (a project sponsored by the Australian Academy of the Humanities and the Union Acadà mique Internationale), and the director of the Porinos Naos Project, a re-examination of the earliest known temple of Apollo on Delos. He is also currently working on a new study of early Attic coinage.
