Biography

Chris Wallace-Crabbe is Professor Emeritus at The Australian Centre, University of Melbourne. He held several overseas positions, including Harness Fellow at Yale (1965-67) and Chair of Australian Studies at Harvard (1987-88). He won the Dublin Prize for Arts and Sciences in 1987. Professor Wallace-Crabbe’s Selected Poems (OUP) won the D.J O’Hearn Prize for Poetry and The Age Book of the Year Prize. In 2015 was awarded the Melbourne Prize for Literature in ‘recognition of his outstanding contribution to Australian literature and cultural and intellectual life’.
