Biography

Vivian Smith, Australian poet, writer and academic, taught for many years in the Department of English at the University of Sydney (Reader 1982-96; retired 1996). His various literary awards include the New South Wales Premier’s Prize (the Kenneth Slessor Prize) for Poetry (1983) and the Patrick White Literary Award (1997).
