Pam Sharpe

Biography

Pam Sharpe is Adjunct Professor and was Professor of History at the University of Tasmania. In 2014 she was Visiting Fellow at All Souls College, Oxford. She was previously Convenor of the Australian Research Council Network for Early European Research at the University of Western Australia. In the 1990s she was lecturer in Economic and Social History at the University of Bristol in the UK.Pam has a doctorate from the University of Cambridge where she studied at the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure. She graduated with MA (Hons) in Economic History from the University of Edinburgh in 1984. Her research interests variously span demographic history; the history of women, poor relief and poverty, and textile history. Most of her published work is about British History of the period of 1650-1850 but she has a developing interest in British colonial expansion since the seventeenth-century and particularly in the history of Van Diemen’s Land.
