Paul Patton

Biography

Paul Patton is Hongyi Chair Professor of Philosophy at Wuhan University and Emeritus Professor at the University of New South Wales, where he transferred from the University of Sydney in 2002. He studied at the University of Sydney from 1969-74 and the University of Paris VIII from 1975-79. He has published widely on aspects of French post structuralist philosophy, Nietzsche and contemporary political philosophy. He translated Deleuze’s ‘Difference and Repetition’ as well as work by Foucault, Nancy and Baudrillard. He has written extensively on Indigenous rights and issues related to historical injustice. A focus of his current work is the relation between Analytic and Continental approaches to political philosophy.
