Biography

Professor Peter Morgan is Director of European Studies at the University of Sydney. He has written widely in his home discipline of German Studies as well as in comparative literary studies, and the pedagogy of European Studies in journals such as Zeitschrift fÜr Germanistik, German Quarterly, German Life and Letters, The Modern Language Review, East European Politics and Society, Monatshefte, Journal of European Studies, World Literature Today, Thesis 11. During his career Peter Morgan has taught widely in German Studies from the 18th century onward and in European intellectual history and social studies, and history of European literature. In 1989 and 2007 he received Excellence in Teaching awards from the University of Western Australia. Peter Morgan is currently President of the German Studies Association of Australia (GSAA) and Vice President of the Contemporary European Studies Association of Australia (CESAA), and is an editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of European Studies, and member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of European Studies, EFLaC: Essays in French Literature and Culture, Transpositionen, and LIMBUS.
