Biography

Vincent Megaw’s research interests focus on the archaeology and anthropology of art; archaeology of musical instruments; Australasian prehistory and protohistory. Special fields include: early celtic art; contemporary indigenous Australian art; and museology. He has worked on several key sites in Europe and carried out pioneering fieldwork on the Indigenous archaeology of the south Sydney region. Together with Dr Ruth Megaw, he has been involved in a longstanding research project on the art of the pre-Roman Iron Age in Europe. He has held a Visiting Professorship at the University of Edinburgh and, since 1998 has with Dr M.Ruth Megaw held the position of Senior Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Archaeology at the University of Glasgow.
