Catriona Mackenzie

Biography

Catriona Mackenzie is Professor of Philosophy, Director of the Macquarie University Research Centre for Agency, Values and Ethics (CAVE), and Associate Dean of Research in the Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University.

Professor Mackenzie has an international reputation for her work in social and political philosophy (especially feminist philosophy), applied ethics, and philosophical moral psychology. Her work on relational autonomy has been particularly influential in bioethics and philosophy

Mackenzie is also known for her research on narrative approaches to personal identity and, more recently, on the ethics of vulnerability. Her approach to philosophical research is collaborative and focused on social issues.

Mackenzie’s publications include Relational Autonomy: Feminist Perspectives on Autonomy, Agency and the Social Self (co-edited with Natalie Stoljar), Practical Identity and Narrative Agency (co-edited with Kim Atkins) and Vulnerability: New Essays in Ethics and Feminist Philosophy (co-edited with Wendy Rogers and Susan Dodds).
