Biography

Marilyn Lake is currently Australian Research Council Professorial Fellow and Professor in History at the University of Melbourne. She previously held a Personal Chair in History at La Trobe University where she taught Australian History and Women’s Studies. Her research interests range widely and include feminist theory and the history of sexuality, work, World Wars I and II, nationalism, colonialism and Australian gender relations. Her current research and writing focus on the history and theory of citizenship.In 2018, Professor Lake was awarded Officer (AO) of The Order of Australia for distinguished service to higher education as an academic, researcher, and author across a range of historical issues, and recognised for her contributions to historical organisations.
