Biography

David Garrioch did his first degree at the University of Melbourne and his doctorate at Oxford University. He taught history at Monash University from 1984 to 2019. He has been a Visiting Fellow at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, and has written on eighteenth-century Paris, on the Enlightenment, and on the social and religious history of European cities. He has worked with French, Italian, Swedish and German sources.
