Jean Fornasiero

Biography

Jean Fornasiero was educated at the University of Adelaide and the Université de Grenoble III (France). She has taught at the Universities of New England and Adelaide; she has been Professor of French Studies at Adelaide since 2011. Her research interests lie in the field of nineteenth-century French Studies, particularly in the intersections between literature and the history of ideas. This interest has also led her to the study of Baudin expedition to Australia (1800-04) and its role in the history of science. She is co-author of Encountering Terra Australis: The Australian Voyages of Nicolas Baudin and Matthew Flinders (co-authored with John West-Sooby and Peter Monteath, 2004, second edition released 2010, winning the Frank Broeze Maritime History Prize 2005).
