Ross McKibbin

Biography

Ross McKibbin is a historian whose career has been devoted to studying the social, political and cultural history of modern Britain, especially focusing on Labour politics and class cultures. He was Lecturer in History at the University of Sydney from 1967-69, Research Lecturer Christ Church, Oxford from 1970-71 and Tutor in Modern History at St John’s College, Oxford 1972-2005. McKibbin’s work has focused on working-class life and the politics of the Labour party. His research covers the period from 1880 to 1960 in British political and social history and more recently has concentrated on the development of British youth culture from the outbreak of the second world war to 1960.
