Biography

Yasmin Haskell is UNESCO Chair in Intercultural and Interreligious Relations at Monash University. From 2002-2023 she was Cassamarca Foundation Chair at the University of Western Australia. Yasmin’s research ranges over history of religion, education, emotions and science, with a particular focus on the Latin humanism of the early modern Society of Jesus (Jesuits). Yasmin was a foundation Chief Investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, in which she led team projects on Jesuit emotions and Passions for learning and a research cluster in language and emotion. Yasmin has worked at the Universities of Sydney, Cambridge and Bristol, and held visiting research fellowships at Trinity College, Cambridge, All Souls College, Oxford, Christ Church College, Oxford, and the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. She is a shepherdess of the Academia of Arcadia, Rome, and a fellow of the Academia Latinitati Fovendae.
