Biography

Michelle de Kretser was born in Sri Lanka and lives in Australia. She went to university in Melbourne and Paris, and has worked as a literary critic, editor and writer. Her fiction is published across the English-speaking world as well as in translation. She has won numerous literary awards, including the Miles Franklin Literary Award in 2013 and 2018. Ms de Kretser has served as a judge for local and international literary prizes, and is an Honorary Associate of the English Department at the University of Sydney.
