Biography

Carolyn Strange has published widely on modern Canadian, Australian and U.S. history. The author, co-author and editor of ten books, her expertise spans numerous fields, including legal history, gender studies, criminology, environmental studies and medical humanities. She is professor of history and Head of the School of History at the Australian National University (from 2021). Carolyn is the convenor of a multi-disciplinary research network on the History and Legacies of Violence, plus a working group on ‘Coercive Control’. She has held major grants through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Australian Research Council. Carolyn is an elected Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia (2016).
