Biography

Professor Goldhill is one of the world’s most distinguished scholars of Greek literature. He was educated at the University of Cambridge and since 2010 holds the position of John Harvard Professor in the Humanities and Social Sciences at his alma mater. His research ranges widely across many genres in Greek literature, Greek culture and Reception, with particular strengths in tragedy, gender and literary theory. He is especially known for his work on the importance of Greek literature and classical reception. His recent interdisciplinary project on the role of the Bible in the nineteenth century will produce work of major significance.
