Biography
Evelleen Richards is Honorary Professor in the School of History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Sydney. She holds a B.Sc. from the University of Queensland and a Ph.D. from the University of New South Wales.
She has served as President of the Australasian Association for the History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Science, and as Chair of the Australian Academy of Science National Coordinating Committee for the History and Philosophy of Science. She has held research affiliations with Cambridge University, the Wellcome Institute, Imperial College of Science and Technology, and the Linus Pauling Institute for Science and Medicine, and visiting professorships at Cornell University and the University of New South Wales.
Her major research interests lie in the social history of evolutionary biology, with particular reference to issues of gender and race, and in the sociology of medical knowledge. Her work has earned her the Suzanne J. Levinson Prize of the History of Science Society (2018), and the History and Philosophy of Science Medal of the Royal Society of New South Wales (2019).
