Biography

Richard Mills is a composer, orchestral and operatic conductor who has made made significant contributions to music in every state of Australia, as a performer, conductor, artistic advisor, and director. Currently the Artistic Director of Opera Victoria, his previous roles have been as director of orchestras and opera companies in Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania. He is also noted for his commitment to the development of young composers, and the promotion and performance of Australian music. He has also served on the Performing Arts Board and Music Fund of the Australia Council.
