Biography

Felix Kofi Ameka, expert on Ewe and other West African languages, brings unrivalled sensitivity to his investigation of how grammar, meaning and culture interact. After undergraduate training in Ghana he undertook his MA and PhD at the ANU, attracted by the Natural Semantic Metalanguage approach of Anna Wierzbicka. Since the early 1990s he has been based at the University of Leiden and the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, while maintaining tireless engagement with linguistic fieldwork in Ghana, as well as linguistic capacity building across the African continent, and in a range of collaborations with linguists in Australia.
