Anne Dunlop

Biography

Anne Dunlop has held the Herald Chair of Fine Arts at the University of Melbourne since 2015. She works on Italian and European art in the later Middle Ages and early modern period, with particular research interests in the materials and techniques of art, and in relations between Europe and Mongol Eurasia, the topic of her current ARC grant.

Dunlop is the author or editor of six books and two special journal issues, including most recently on the topic ‘Foreign Bodies: Neighbours, Strangers, and Monsters, c. 1300-1700.’

Dunlop has been a Visiting Professor at Zhejiang University, at Peking University, and at Harvard University’s Villa I Tatti Centre for Renaissance Studies. She now serves as one of the two national delegates for Australia to the International Congress of the History of Art.

Anne Dunlop’s research languages include French, Italian, Spanish, and basic reading abilities in German and Latin.
