Biography

Hyun Jin Kim is Professor in Classics at the University of Melbourne. After obtaining his DPhil from the University of Oxford on a Commonwealth Scholarship in 2008, he was awarded a University of Sydney Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in 2009 and an ARC DECRA in 2011.

He is widely published and the author or editor of seven books. Hyun Jin has won critical praise for his original work on understudied links between Europe and Asia in antiquity. Many of his books, including his first monograph Ethnicity and Foreigners in Ancient Greece and China 2009, are comparative studies of Ancient Greece and China. His other monographs and edited books have made significant contributions to the study of the Inner Asian Huns and Eurasian Empires in Late Antiquity.
