Biography

Professor Luke Morgan is Director of Art History & Theory at Monash University. He is a member of the Australian Research Council (ARC) College of Experts and, from 2020, an ARC Future Fellow. He specialises in early modern European art, architecture and landscape design.

His books include Nature as Model: Salomon de Caus and Early Seventeenth-Century Landscape Design (2006) and The Monster in the Garden: The Grotesque and the Gigantic in Renaissance Landscape Design (2016), both published by The University of Pennsylvania Press. His current research is on the theme of enchantment in the early modern landscape and the reception history of gardens in sixteenth-century Italy.
