The Academy's 21st Trendall Lecture

The Trendall Lecture for distinguished scholarship in the classics will be held in conjunction with the Australasian Society for Classical Studies conference.

Opening reception: 5:00pm-6:30pm Monday 4 February 2019, Booloominbah Heritage Homestead at the University of New England, Armidale NSW.

Lecture: 6:30pm-7:30pm Monday 4 February 2019, at the Arts Lecture Theatre 1, Arts Building E11 at the University of New England.

Overview: The Academy's Trendall Lecture was made possible through a bequest made by Professor A.D. (Dale) Trendall AC CMG FAHA (1909–95), a Foundation Fellow of the Academy. The lecture series celebrates distinguished scholarship in the classics. 

Dr  J. Lea Beness and Associate Professor Tom Hillard, both of Macquarie University, will jointly give the  21st Trendall Lecture on 'At the Crossroads and in the Crosshairs: Class, Ideology and Personality-driven Politics at Rome in the Second Century BC' on the 4th February 2019, in Armidale NSW.
