Overview: Seventy years ago this October, workers broke ground on the largest infrastructure project in Australia’s history, the Snowy Hydro Electric Scheme–one of the greatest engineering wonders of the modern world. To celebrate the occasion, Parliament House will host a screening of the short film ‘Power From the Snow’ (1955) followed by a panel discussion led by journalist Louise Maher about Snowy Hydro, the people who worked on it, their memories and its impact 70 years later.

Panellists include Academy President, Professor Joy Damousi FASSA FAHA. 

This is a free public event.
