Second Eric Richards Symposium in British and Australasian History

Second Eric Richards Symposium in British and Australasian History

The Academy is delighted to support this event as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

Dates: 2-4 September, 2019

Location: University of New England, Armidale NSW

Overview: UNE History is pleased to host this symposium honouring the late Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities Eric Richards (1940-2018), who was a giant in the field of migration history. Eric arrived in Australia as a 'ten-pound Pom' in 1963, and spent most of his academic life at the Flinders University of South Australia, where he rose in prominence, becoming deeply involved in a range of history societies and committees. Both his dedication and services to history and his academic work have been well-acknowledged.

This symposium is about sharing and promoting the academic work Eric was so passionate about, particularly Australia's Scottish and Irish migrant history.
