The Academy has 11 Sections reflecting areas of expertise in the humanities. Each Fellow with voting rights is a member of at least one Section within their area/s of expertise. You can see a particular Fellow’s Section membership on their profile page by searching Find Fellows.

The role of the Sections is to provide advice to the Council about their discipline and other matters of interest or concern to the Fellowship.

The Sections are also central to nominating and electing new Fellows to the Academy through our annual election.

Heads of Section

Heads of Section are a key source of advice for both the Council and the Secretariat. They are an important conduit to disciplinary expertise within our Fellowship to inform our policy responses to government, international initiatives, and annual Symposium themes.
