Fellows recognised in 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List

The Academy warmly congratulates three of its Fellows who have been awarded honours in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List announced in Canberra on Monday 10 June. The recognition of these scholars and their research demonstrates the importance of the humanities to Australia’s past, present, and future.

Congratulations to:

Emeritus Professor Graeme Turner AO FAHA, former President of the Academy, awarded Officer (AO) in the General Division for distinguished service to higher education through pioneering work in the field of cultural studies and the humanities.

Dr Josephine Flood AM FAHA awarded Member (AM) in the General Division for significant service to archaeology, and to the study of Indigenous culture.

Emeritus Professor Richard Fotheringham AM FAHA awarded Member (AM) in the General Division for significant service to higher education, and to the performing arts.
