‘A New Approach’ arts and culture project update

AAH News A New Approach

As the newly appointed Program Director of A New Approach project, I’d like introduce myself and to invite you to register to receive brief updates on our progress.

Announced last year, A New Approach was instigated by The Myer Foundation, the Tim Fairfax Family Foundation and the Keir Foundation to address the need for an authoritative and independent voice to advance Australia’s arts and cultural sector. Key to this is evidence-based policy work to help build better political and institutional settings, and encourage a broader public discussion about the scope, impact, benefits and future possibilities for the creative life of the nation.

I am delighted to have been appointed to lead this ambitious project and look forward to working with the Australian Academy of the Humanities and Newgate Communications to realise the Foundations’ vision.

At this time in Australia we have access to an unprecedented level of research and data about arts and cultural activity, both here and overseas. One of the great opportunities of A New Approach is to draw this into a compelling and far-reaching conversation about how we can best appreciate, invest in and understand cultural experiences and creative activity.

We are currently sharpening our view on what this project will address and why. This is an important first phase, ensuring our strategy, governance structure, and program of work best serves our ambition to achieve long-term policy work grounded in a thorough, contemporary understanding of the aspirations of both the arts and culture sector and the Australian public. This foundational work will enable us to leverage the unique edge of A New Approach, putting us in the strongest position to shift perceptions and policy.

I look forward to updating you on key developments and exploring possibilities with our vibrant and vital arts and culture sector; please register via the Academy’s website if you’d like to receive these updates. You are invited to share this message throughout your networks and encourage them to register.
