Fellow elected to British Academy

The Academy warmly congratulates one of its Fellows upon their election to the Fellowship of the British Academy.

Professor Alison Bashford FBA FAHA, is the Vere Harmsworth Professor of Imperial and Naval History at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Jesus College, Cambridge. Her expertise is in modern world history, 19th and 20th century environmental history, and population and historical thought. Born in Sydney, and educated at the University of Sydney, Professor Bashford spent nearly twenty years teaching and researching from her Sydney base, taking regular visiting fellowships in the United Kingdom, before being appointed to the University of Cambridge.
