Grants - Overview

Grants and Awards

In keeping with one of its central goals - to advance knowledge in the various humanities disciplines and foster excellence in humanities scholarship - the Australian Academy of the Humanities offers a range of grants and awards programmes. Check below for a brief description of each, or explore the menu on the right.

Mailing List

We also have a mailing list available for those who wish to be kept up to date with any changes to the Academy's programmes, or announcements regarding those programmes, such as recipients.

Publication Subsidy Scheme The Publication Subsidy Scheme supports the publication of humanities research and scholarship. It is open to humanities scholars living in Australia.

International Programmes We also have several international programmes to encourage collaboration between Australian and international scholars, and to enable Australian researchers to access material held overseas.

The Crawford Medal The Crawford Medal is designed to award young scholars in recognition of outstanding achievements in the Humanities in Australia who are currently engaged in research and whose publications contribute towards an understanding of their disciplines by the general public.

Trendall and Triebel Lectures The Trendall Lecture is given by a distinguished scholar on a theme associated with Classical Studies. The Triebel Lecture is generally given on the topic of language study.

Humanities Travelling Fellowships The Humanities Travelling Fellowships enables early career researchers to access archive and other research materials held overseas, and is one of our most popular and successful programmes.
