Academy Publications

Overview

Besides the Publication Subsidy Scheme, the Academy itself also publishes and has published a large variety and number of its own publications. As one of the many benefits of being a Fellow of the Academy, all Fellows receive any publication of the Academy at cost price, plus GST and postage and handling.

Proceedings
The annual Proceedings of the Australian Academy of the Humanities is our retrospective look back at the activities, finances, membership, and so on of the Academy through the previous year. Includes a full list of Fellows, obituaries, office-bearers, electoral matters, by-laws and the Academy Lecture.

Symposium The triannual Symposium newsletter, now in its eleventh year, contains articles written by Fellows of the Academy and its staff, news items, announcements and so on. It is made available in electronic format on this website a few days after its release, and is available free of charge, and in hard copy from the Academy offices.

Edited Collections The yearly collected papers from the latest annual Symposium and General Meeting, which are normally published under the same title as the conference. Professionally selected, edited, typeset, designed and published, these books are a fascinating snapshot of the contemporary concerns of the Academy and of wider Australian scholarship, as well as great reading.

Occasional Papers
Occasional papers can be anything from research reports which the Academy has sponsored to speeches given by Fellows. They are an important catalogue of the Academy's work and evidence of the high level of research done by Australia's leading humanities scholars.

Monographs
Monographs are books written or edited by a single author, and published by, or with the assistance of, the Academy. Usually by Fellows, they are an important addition to any library.

Collaborations
In collaboration with the University of Queensland Press and prominent Australian scholars, the on-going Academy Editions of Australian Literature series.

In collaboration with the Union Académique Internationale, the Language Atlas series.

In Development
The Anthology of Australian Literature hopes to bring together outstanding works from Australia's literary past to assist scholars, students, and the general public in learning more about Australian literature. When completed, this collection will provide students and researchers both in Australia and overseas with a definitive record of Australian writing and authors.
