The World in Voice

The Academy has sponsored or participated in a number of significant national and international projects. One of these major international projects is the Language Atlas series.

All these projects have been supported by the International Union of Academies (Brussels) and the UNESCO International Council of Philosophy and Humanistic Studies. They have been developed in conjunction with several major international sister academies.

The Language Atlas of the Pacific Area (1981-83) This language atlas was published by the Academy in collaboration with the Japan Academy.	The Language Atlas of China (1900-90) This language atlas was undertaken in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, and was published both in English and Chinese editions.
An Atlas of Languages of Inter-Cultural Communication in the Pacific Hemisphere This language atlas is currently in active preparation.	Language Atlas of South America This language atlas is due to be begun after the Pacific Hemisphere Languages Atlas.
