Language Atlases

The Language Atlas of the Pacific Area and The Language Atlas of China were supported with funding from the Union Académique Internationale and the UNESCO International Council of Philosophy and Humanistic Studies.

Each Atlas was developed in conjunction with major international Academies.

• The Language Atlas of the Pacific Area (1981-83) was published by the Academy in collaboration with the Japan Academy.
• The Language Atlas of China (1900-90) was undertaken in partnership with the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Beijing, and was published both in English and Chinese editions.
