A competitive grants round to support all aspects of the Government’s
Inspiring Australia strategy was announced on 16 January. Humanities researchers are eligible to apply for funding (from $5000 to $500,000) under the scheme, the objective of which is to “promote public appreciation not only of the role of the ‘enabling sciences’ (physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics), but also of the role of engineering, and the social sciences and humanities”. The grants will support “projects that target people who may not have had interest in or access to science engagement activities in the past”.
A total of $5 million will be available for projects to be delivered in calendar years 2012, 2013 and/or 2014. The guidelines encourage a broad mix of innovative projects and activities. The deadline for applications is 4.00pm AEDST,
29 February 2012.
