Swedish Exchange Programme

Opportunities for scholars interested in Scandinavian and Swedish studies

The Australian Academy of the Humanities and the Swedish Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities have an Exchange Agreement, which provides for one established Australian scholar per year, who is able to cover travel to Europe independently, and who wishes to do research in Sweden, to visit for a maximum of one month.

Terms of the Awards:
The Swedish Academy will be responsible for the cost of accommodation and a per diem during the scholar's visit, for a maximum of one month, up to the sum of 40,000SEK. Guest lectures or seminars are also encouraged; however, they are not a strict requirement for this programme. Should the scholar be working elsewhere in Europe, it is possible that the Australian Academy of the Humanities will meet the cost of fares between the scholar's place of residence in Europe and Sweden.

Elegibility:
The Award is open to all established Australian scholars working in a discipline under the auspices of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. A reciprocal arrangement covers the cost of one Swedish scholar to visit Australia per year.

Closing Date:
The programme is now closed for 2010.

Reports:
We require a report from scholars involved with the program within two weeks from their return from Sweden or Australia. Several reports from past recipients are available:

Applications:
The application form is available for download (.DOC, 252KB) in Microsoft Word format.

Further Information:
For more information about the the programme, please contact Jorge Salavert by email or on 02 6125 8950. You may also go to the Swedish Royal Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities website.
